OTH 610: Physical Agent Modalities

This course introduces the safe, ethical, and evidence-based use of physical agent modalities as adjuncts to occupation-based occupational therapy intervention. Students examine the principles, physiological effects, indications, contraindications, and precautions for superficial thermal agents, deep thermal agents, electrotherapeutic agents, and mechanical devices as a preparatory measure to improve occupational performance. Emphasis is placed on clinical reasoning, client safety, professional standards, and integration of modalities into functional, client-centered care across practice settings.
