CJC 525: Restorative Justice Community

Credits 3

This course explores restorative justice as an alternative response to crime. It recognizes the needs of the person who was harmed while holding the person responsible for the harm accountable for their actions. Restorative justice addresses the harm caused by crime, the people and communities who are affected, and the restorative practices available to address the harm. It can be used with both juveniles and adults and used independently or in conjunction with the criminal legal system. Other restorative practices can be used in families, in schools, and in communities. This is a writing intensive course.
