PTY 720: Healthcare Systems Leadership and Population Health

This course integrates principles of health care systems, practice management, leadership, health promotion, and population wellness within contemporary physical therapy practice. Students apply managerial and supervisory principles, reimbursement and regulatory concepts, and leadership behaviors while examining the physical therapist’s role in health promotion, disease prevention, and population health initiatives across the lifespan. Using case-based and applied learning strategies, students analyze social determinants of health, health disparities, and system-level constraints to inform clinical, programmatic, and population-based decision-making. The course culminates in the design of an evidence-informed, feasible health promotion or service delivery
initiative aligned with physical therapy scope of practice and public health priorities.
