CJC 520: Reentry & Reintegration of Offenders

Credits 3

This course examines the transition of offenders from incarceration into the community. Reentry into the community begins with pre-release planning. Pre-release planning can be helpful but upon release, formerly incarcerated individuals often face limited opportunities for success, barriers to reentry, and lack of support for reintegration. These topics and other topics will be explored in depth. Current trends and evidence-based practices in offender reentry and reintegration will also be examined. This is a writing intensive course. This course is open to students matriculated into the Criminal Justice/Community Corrections program or the Forensic Mental Health program.
